Community Climate Change Advocacy Artwork

If you’re interested in the human stories behind a magnificent artwork, explore this book that will take you behind the scenes of coastal climate impacts and sustainable livelihoods in a remote and rural Eastern Cape village.

When 43 rural artists, mainly female, from the Keiskamma Art Project, teamed up with WWF in Hamburg on the east coast of South Africa, science and art came together in the form of a vivid and detailed tapestry that is set to travel the world. This book explores the personal stories of eight of the artists and places the imagery of the artwork in the context of impacts that range from unseasonal weather to low fish stocks, and livelihoods that range from food gardening to oyster harvesting. Delve into these theme-based stories which are both unique and universal and which are supported by statistics which show the scale of each issue.
