Cederberg Private Cellar
The vineyards of Cederberg Private Cellar are among the highest in the Western Cape at 1,036 metres above sea level.
Only about 300 hectares is used for farming, the holiday resort and staff housing, with the rest of this unspoilt land placed under CapeNature’s care – with 5,200 hectares under conservation. This fifth-generation, family-run farm was used for growing deciduous fruit before the first vines were planted in 1973.
Cederberg farms sustainably and because this isolated area is virus free and has minimal disease, this allows for little to no chemical intervention. They also undertake continuous eradication of alien vegetation to protect the fynbos and its different ecosystems.
