WWF pays tribute to leading climate scientist Prof Bob Scholes
WWF is saddened to hear of the passing of one of the world’s leading climate scientists, Professor Bob Scholes, and sends condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and many others in the science community who knew him well.
A Professor of Systems Ecology at Wits University, Scholes was rated among the top one per cent of environmental scientists in the world and held several high-profile positions in the fields of climate change and environmental studies. He was also a long-serving WWF South Africa trustee and a close science advisor to WWF’s senior leadership.
We are deeply grateful for his enduring contributions to our organization and the broader environmental sector. Scholes will be remembered as a true leader and a conscientious and dedicated scientist.
