Food is essential for survival, but our food systems (the way we produce, transport and manage food) is negatively affecting the environment. Community and commercial farmers can play a huge role in ensuring food production is sustainable, which is why we have produced a toolkit with practical solutions for community farmers and which commercial farmers could find useful too.
This One Food toolkit is a practical guide designed to help farmers and communities work towards resilient sustainable food systems. It explains how food production is linked to biodiversity and environmental health, and it offers actionable tips for managing land, water, crops and livestock. Overall, it shares knowledge about agroecology and how this can be put into practice by community farmers, while commercial farmers may also find it useful.
This aligns with WWF’s philosophy of boosting sustainable livelihoods while protecting nature. It also highlights the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing for long-term food security and environmental protection.
For broader accessibility, the One Food brochure is also available in Sesotho and isiXhosa, ensuring more communities benefit from its insights.
