Earth Hour 2021 will be a key moment for us to unite and to speak up for nature. Can the planet count on you?
We can’t wait to celebrate Earth Hour with you.
If the last year has taught us anything, it is that our future and that of our planet are inextricably linked. This is time to show that you, your family, your community, and your wider networks care about the key challenges facing our planet – climate change and nature loss – and want a future in which both people and nature can thrive.
To get started, make sure you have Earth Hour marked in your calendar – it’s 8.30pm on 27 March, the last Saturday of the month. If you’re in South Africa, we’ve made it easy for you – just download the entry for Outlook, Android or iCal/Apple.
Nominate your #LocalNatureHero whose actions could be as simple as picking up litter, planting vegetable gardens, and saving water, or as innovative as creating new products or systems with sustainability in mind. You and your nominee could be in line for a special getaway prize.
Follow one of the @WWFSouthAfrica social platforms on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter and nominate your #LocalNatureHero.
You can do this by adding a comment on a WWF post with the name + image of your #LocalNatureHero and a short description in the comment section. You can also create a post with this information but remember to tag @WWFSouthAfrica and use the hashtag #LocalNatureHero. Encourage your family and friends to do the same.
Competition terms and conditions available here.
On 27 March, Nature Heroes around the world will come together in the virtual world to celebrate Earth Hour! If you sign up you can be part of the action. Not only do we have some cool designs for you to share but we will also release an amazing video to share on social media on the night of Earth Hour. Once you’re signed up, we’ll message you when it’s ready so that you can share too.
Remember, nature underpins everything. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat all comes from nature. Now is the time to speak up for it!
By signing up, you stand to win WWF Panda Gear to the value of R1000 so you can kit yourself out as the Nature Hero you truly are.
