Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate
Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate, in Stellenbosch, leads as a pioneer of a unique, integrated pest management program with their 1600-strong duck flock.
The Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate is a respected wine producer with a rich heritage and an affinity for the unexpected. It is one of the oldest working farms in South Africa, with elegant and untouched 1700’s Cape Dutch buildings, and a cellar, deli, kitchen and picnic area overlooking the dam with its rich birdlife.
Every process on our farm is designed to leave as light a footprint as possible. This starts with a deep respect for the land and every creature that calls it home. The enthusiastic team of over 1600 Indian Runner Ducks forms part of a natural pest control solution integral to the quality of our wines and environmentally conscious principles. Recycling, minimalist packaging, solar electricity, composting and low-water drip irrigation systems, amongst others show the farms long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.
