Terence Nombembe
Terence Nombembe is a Chartered Accountant with a distinguished career in finance and governance and a champion for integrity and ethics. He has contributed significantly to South Africa's public and private sectors in his roles as CEO of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and Head of Investigations for the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
Mr Nombembe was also the Auditor-General of South Africa from 2006 to 2013, and Deputy Auditor-General from 2000 to 2006. His career includes key roles at Gobodo Incorporated, BP Southern Africa, and Unilever South Africa, focusing on auditing and finance.
Since August 2024, he has been a member of the WWF South Africa Board. He currently serves on several Boards, including Nedbank Group Limited, the University of Witwatersrand, Africa Health Research Institute, and the Wiseman Nkuhlu Trust (as chair).
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Transkei and an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1990 and received an Honorary Doctorate in Accounting Science from Walter Sisulu University in 2014.
