Valli Moosa
Chair
With a distinguished background in both the political and corporate spheres, Valli Moosa brings a wealth of experience and commitment to his role at WWF. He was deeply involved in South Africa’s freedom struggle and was instrumental in drafting the country’s Constitution before serving cabinet as Minister of Constitutional Development and later Minister of Environment.
His association with WWF South Africa began with his previous role as Chairperson, and he rejoined as a board member in February 2024 before assuming the role of chair again in November 2024. Additionally, Mr Moosa has held significant leadership roles such as President of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Chairman of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development. He is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Climate Commission.
Mr Moosa transitioned to the corporate sector in 2004 and currently sits on the board of Sappi Ltd. His extensive corporate experience includes board positions at Anglo Platinum, Sun International, Eskom, Imperial Holdings, and Sanlam. His influence extends into global environmental efforts, having served as a facilitator in international climate change negotiations for several years.
