How we work
The WWF Nedbank Green Trust funds diverse community-based conservation projects from species-focused projects to urban greening projects.
All of the projects funded by the Trust retain a significant focus on community-based conservation.
The Trust supports projects focused on the prevention of degradation of the South African natural environment, the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources, and promotes behaviour aimed at reducing pollution and the wasteful exploitation and consumption of resources and energy.
To access funding, projects can apply directly to the Trust. In some cases, the WWF may initiate a project and fund one of the Trust’s conservation partners to implement projects on behalf of the organisation.
All project proposals undergo a rigorous period of review within WWF-SA. Final approvals are made by the WWF Nedbank Green Trust Management Committee that consists of three members from WWF South Africa and three members from Nedbank.
The Trust is funded by Nedbank, through their Nedbank Green Affinity programme.
