Who can get involved?

The WWF Water Balance Programme takes several criteria into consideration when considering a potential participant, such as that the potential participant:
  • Should have a sizable water footprint;
  • Should be based in or be dependent on water from the prioritized nodes or have offices based nation-wide;
  • Should not have a large, long-lasting negative impact on water, which cannot be addressed through the “replenishment” component of the Programme.
However, WWF seeks to harness corporate support for the wise management of our water resources not only through their commitment to the Water Balance Programme, but also through engaging with corporates on the broader issues deemed vital to achieving water security in South Africa. The Water Balance Programme therefore acts as one option available to visionary corporates who recognize the precarious state of South Africa’s water supplies.
