South Africa has possibly one of the most robust water legislation in the world, but its effective implementation still remains a major challenge.
WWF is working with the government to ensure the effective implementation of the National Water Act, and other key policies in South Africa.

- Promoting the effective management of water resources in transboundary river basins
- Support the development and implementation of catchment management strategies in priority Water Management Areas.
- Capacity building of local water management institutions and empower local communities to participate in water resource management.
- Facilitating public-private sector partnerships for effective catchment management
