WWF supported the establishment of the Share-Net Programme in 1987, and has been co-funding the programme, along with along with first Gold Fields, Old Mutual and then McCarthy, ever since. Share-Net provides proactive and responsive support for the development of local capacity through by developing educational resource materials, via the Share-Net network.
Activities include short courses on resource material development; providing an accessible telephone and e-mail support service; and the ongoing development of key resource materials for environmental education throughout the SADC region.
Share-Net also produces the eco-schools toolkit.
In 2008 Share-Net set about ‘greening’ their offices. They installed a skylight and solar panels and now print their resources with solar energy, on a low-energy use, high-quality photocopier. You can order an electronic copy of the Greening the Share-Net offices booklet if you'd like to learn how you can also green your offices.
