Established by WWF Sweden in 2008, the Climate Solver platform is an international platform that displays the best technologies to reduce carbon emissions and support energy access while creating awareness of the value of innovation as a tool to tackle climate change.
Working collaboratively with other stakeholders, such as investors and policy makers - Climate Solver partners – and targeting small and medium sized enterprises active in climate innovation, we hope to create an environment that will impact positively on these enterprises’ ability to develop the capacity to develop and roll-out innovative technologies.
After the successful launch of the Climate Solver platform in South Africa in 2013, WWF invited small and medium enterprises active in the climate innovation space to submit their innovations for consideration in 2016.
This year three innovators were awarded: MISER, a hydraulic hybrid transmission system that recovers lost kinetic energy, with significant fuel savings and reduced carbon emissions; Futran, by MiloTek (Pty) Ltd, a low-cost suspended automated transport system that can be powered by solar energy, and Heliostat, by Heliolab, which provides concentrated solar power solutions for businesses that need to be off-grid.
