Transport

The internal combustion engine on which most cars today run is one of the world’s most inefficient machines.
Almost 80% of the energy of the fuel is wasted in the process of turning it to motive power.

Flying is the most energy -intensive and climate-damaging form of transport, followed by cars, then trains and busses.

Four solutions that improve energy efficiency in transport:
  1. Avoid traveling at all if you can use tele-commuting or video-conferencing instead.
  2. Avoid traveling by car and use public transport
  3. Choose the most fuel-efficient vehicle (which may include a motorbike)
  4. Move from using fossil fuels, to power vehicles, to electric vehicles
