David has been managing the WWF/WESSA Mondi Wetlands programme since 1996, before this he worked for the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) for three years as a conservation ecologist. Over the years, David has had extensive international exposure and experience through working with WWF offices around the world on wetland issues. He has been involved in the drafting on strategic multinational policies on integrated wetland and river management and he has also been a member of the WWF delegation to the Ramsar Convention Conference of Parties.

Central to the MWP’s work, is supporting social change within society to strengthen wetland sustainability practices, through drawing on innovative social and education theory and processes to strengthen wetland practice. David holds a BSc honours in Zoology and Entomology from Rhodes University and he is currently completing a Masters in Education from Rhodes University on the integration of skills and knowledge from the natural sciences into the socio-developmental field of practice, and area of study which he very passionate about. He currently based in Pretoria where the Mondi Wetland Programme administrative office is located.
