Senior Manager: WWF Freshwater Programme
Christine Colvin joined WWF in June 2011 as the senior manager for the Freshwater Programmes. She is a hydrogeologist by profession and joined WWF from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research where she managed their hydroscience research group. She has worked in Europe and Southern Africa in research and environmental engineering.

As a hydrogeologist she pioneered work on groundwater-dependent ecosystems, assessing how ecosystem resilience in semi-arid areas is underpinned by access to groundwater and springs. Her role at WWF is to ensure the strategic relevance and impact of WWF’s work in the freshwater environment. Christine will be overseeing WWF’s four freshwater programmes namely, Catchment Stewardship, Water Balance, Water Risk and Mondi Wetlands. She is also working closely with the WWF Enkangala Grasslands Project to understand the long-term impacts of coal mining in these critical headwaters.
