Dr Morné du Plessis: CEO, WWF South Africa

Dr Morné du Plessis was appointed as CEO of WWF South Africa on 1 September 2007. He was recently appointed as a member of the Network Executive Team (NET). The NET is the core group of the Assembly that is responsible for the effective vision and objectives of the WWF Network.

He serves as a Trustee of the  Leslie Hill Succulent Karoo Trust, the Table Mountain Fund, the National Parks Trust of South Africa, The Green Trust and the John Voelcker Bird Book Trust.

He also serves on the Board of the Southern African Wildlife College.

Previously he was the Director of the Percy FitzPatrick Institute (PFIAO) at UCT. He has served as the Assistant Director of Biodiversity Research at the former Natal Parks Board and spent two years as a postdoctoral associate at the University of California at Berkeley.

He holds a BSc Agric (Stellenbosch), BSc Hons (Pretoria), PhD (Cape Town) and an MBA (Cape Town).
