Decisive Debates

WWF South Africa and national radio station SAfm have introduced a new and innovative radio debate format called `Decisive Debates’ – a series of debates aimed at catalysing fresh conversations and new solutions to environmental challenges. The debate format is a contest rather than a panel discussion and represents a new approach to radio debates by giving the deciding vote to the radio station’s listeners.
In each Decisive Debate two teams of three square off on a topical environmental issue. All six speakers are given the opportunity for opening statements, rebuttals and closing remarks. They also get to field questions and comments from both listeners who call in and the live studio audience, who are encouraged to vote for the team they feel presents the strongest argument.

The next debate, scheduled for 30 May 2014, will explore the motion, ‘fracking threatens our water resources’. You can participate by tuning in to SAfm on 104-107fm from 07h30 and by voting in the poll on this page. Have your say.
