Communications Manager: Khetha Program

2 Year Contract position based in WWF office established in Nelspruit area

The new position of Khetha Program Communications Manager will be responsible for the management and oversight of a range of communication materials to help in achieving the goals of the Program. The position will be based in a new office to be established in the Nelspruit area. This is a 2 year Contract position with the possibility of extension.
 Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership for communications for the Khetha Programme;
  • Manage and develop communications campaigns and tools with partners;
  • Content development and management for social media tools and platforms;
  • Development of communications or program materials to explain or market the Khetha Program to audiences and beneficiaries that includes: pamphlets, press releases, user-friendly reading materials, videos, reports and work plans, website;
  • Development and organisation of Khetha campaigns, events, media releases, press conferences and activations in collaboration with relevant partners;
  • Oversight of technical communications campaigns and materials developed by project partners;
  • Manage and report on overall financials for the programme​
  • Qualification in marketing and communications, postgraduate qualification would be advantageous;
  • Minimum five years of experience in an independent communications position;
  • A passion for environmental and conservation issues, and an understanding of the connection between social issues and the environment;
  • Prior exposure to wildlife conservation science would be beneficial for the role;
  • Articulate and a confident communicator in English (written and verbal) with strong social media and networking skills;
  • Fluency in Portuguese would be an advantage;
  • Self-motivated, with strong administrative and project management skills;
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and regionally as required;
  • Possession of a valid passport and driver’s license
