World Wide Fund for Nature and the Global Cleantech Group have launched the second edition of the Global Cleantech Innovation Index.
The Index explores the question of where sustainable innovation companies are being created across the globe, as well as how well their products are being commercialised. It looks at why entrepreneurial companies, developing sustainable innovations, seem to spring up in certain geographies, and which economic, social and environmental conditions cultivate hotbeds for such innovation.
Forty countries, including all G20 countries, were evaluated on 15 indicators related to the creation and commercialisation of cleantech start-ups. The result is an index which measures each one’s potential - relative to their economic size - to produce entrepreneurial cleantech start-up companies that will commercialise clean technology innovations over the next 10 years.
